Justice in the Trayvon Martin Case — What About For George?

The Trayvon Martin case is supposed to be about justice, but not everything will not be shown to the jury. We always hear “justice for Trayvon,” but what about justice for George?

Sadly, George Zimmerman’s defense team just got handed a major blow by the court. New evidence surfaced last week that paints Trayvon Martin in a completely different light than the mainstream media has portrayed him for the past year. In a series of text messages sent from Martin to friends, a violent side of Martin was revealed, one that would show that Zimmerman was likely attacked and had to use force to defend himself. But Circuit Court Judge Debra Nelson has barred this information being presented in court. This is certainly an unfortunate miscarriage of justice.

trayvon-martin-photo-media-george-zimmerman-photo-bias-sad-hill-news2Data released from Martin’s cellphone shows texts that Martin sent to his friends where he speaks candidly about fighting, trouble at school, and smoking marijuana, and photos of a gun are also seen. A clearer picture of Martin is coming together. This picture is one of a troubled teen, whose mother was insisting that he move in with his father after being suspended from school.

The photo of the gun found in a text from Martin to a friend would have been very helpful to George Zimmerman’s defense. In the picture, a Smith and Wesson handgun and clip are clearly displayed. This isn’t the only picture of a gun that was found on the phone in question. However, the sad reality is this evidence will not be allowed in court. The prosecution has an image of Trayvon Martin to uphold — one that paints him as the victim of a racially motivated attack. Now, the likelihood of Zimmerman receiving a fair trial is slim to none, and there is every chance that Zimmerman will be painted as violent racist, targeting Martin for no reason.

This is a disgusting development in a case that has already proved itself to one motivated by race and nothing more. During the initial attack, George Zimmerman sustained major injuries, in the form of a broken nose, noticeable bruises, and other cuts to the back of the head. This evidence was deliberately kept under wraps to make it appear that Zimmerman had provoked Martin and then shot him for no apparent reason. But the evidence shows that Zimmerman likely shot Martin in self-defense.

The Trayvon Martin case is one of the tragedies of our time, but not for the reasons the mainstream media wants people to believe. The media needed a scapegoat, and George Zimmerman is that man. Trayvon Martin, the innocent young man portrayed by the mainstream media as nonviolent and an innocent bystander, is clearly a fabrication. It is now easy to see that Zimmerman was likely provoked and had to act in self-defense in order to save himself. The clearest picture of all is that the media thrives on creating scenarios of racism and discord. It would better serve their purposes to have people believe George Zimmerman deliberately attacked Trayvon Martin because he was black than acted in self-defense.

George Zimmerman is the victim in this situation. Clearly, he fired his weapon, but he will never get his chance to prove that he was defending himself. The defense is barred from mentioning any questionable activity in Martin’s past, which would help Zimmerman’s defense. A man is on trial for his life, one that will likely be taken away from him if the courts have their way. This is the consequence of political correctness. Propagate a lie enough and the people will believe it.

The media doesn’t care about Zimmerman or Martin, and most distressingly it doesn’t care about the truth either. It wants sensational stories to sell the product – “news.” Zimmerman will have a chance to prove himself, and, while the outcome of a trial is difficult to predict, Zimmerman will be acquitted. The local police didn’t even arrest him until after the media made this a political issue. So here we have a political trial, manufactured by the media and carried out by government prosecutors. Let’s hope and pray the system works and Zimmerman is exonerated!

Justice for Trayvon…Justice for George….what about Justice for the public? How is it possible that either side will get a fair trial if the media keeps reporting each and every thing that happens. Do I care if George has gained 60 pounds since the whole episode began? Do I care if Trayvon had troubles in school? Not particularly. But the media keeps forcing this information down our throats. The Jody Arias trial is another example of this. Justice for the American public would be to stop publicizing all these things, let the trials be run in the courtrooms and not in the court of public approval, and give us a rest. Please.

Justice is a tricky thing and I would rather have a free press with a lot of information – even biased and faulty information than proceedings in secret. I think justice is best served with a free press – even if they are biased.

This case has much greater consequences than a mere shooting of an unidentified intruder in a housing development by the self-imposed lone ranger neighborhood watch security. It is about the 2nd Amendment Right to bear arms for self-protection to defend against someone trying to beat you to death. It is about the “Stand Your Ground” law in Florida and elsewhere. But, the defense and news media are doing all they can to turn this case into a harsh criminal case when it should not be in the courts at all. It’s to push their agenda to control the use of firearms, and the family of Trayvon Martin has used it to try and make money off his rightful death.
